Dave loved sports. Throughout his 20s he was at his best form, having played football professionally, at the state level. However, a severe ACL tear caused him to take a long hiatus, hampering his momentum and cutting his sporting career short.

However, he regularly participates in marathons but off-late he had been feeling the strength in his muscles deteriorating, which he attributed to his age. He also started to feel weak, but he was not willing to give up running. In an attempt to maintain his active lifestyle, he decided to undertake My Gene Story’s Evo Fit and Right Diet reports to formulate a detailed and specific fitness and nutrition plan.

Key Findings

DNA-based Plan

  • Dave’s fitness profile showed he had an excellent lactate threshold but a high risk for injuries. He was given some steps for preventing these injuries in the future.
  • It was recommended that he include myofascial compression and weight training in his fitness regimen, given his good score for muscle building.
  • His report showed that his body’s requirements for certain vitamins and iron were more than average. As per is genetic assessment, he was advised to increase his iron intake by consuming more dark green vegetables rich in iron.
  • He was also sensitive to salt and his risk for lactose intolerance was high. He was advised to avoid dairy products and consume lactose-free foods instead, relieving him of symptoms like bloating.

What’s Dave up to now?

  • After following a genotype-specific diet plan and modifications in his fitness plan, Dave managed to gain more muscle mass and felt more fit and energetic.
  • Because of increased strength, he faced lesser injuries.
  • He has continued to follow more sport-specific strength and conditioning training and has seen improvement in his performance.
